Anyone else deal with depression as part of PMS? |
|
Some months it gets really bad. I Isolate myself and don't go out. And I usually find myself engaging in an activity almost to the exclusion of other activities. Sometimes it's writing, sometimes it's surfing the net and DU. If people call, I don't call them back. It feels like I have no energy to socialize during these times. I do wonder if anti depressants would help. I tried St John's Wort but it didn't relieve the symptoms. Exercise does help, and I do try to keep up with that.
I'm not looking for medical advice just comparing experiences.

I had my hysterectomy years ago. I still experience it on occasion and I do still have my right ovary so I suspect I'm still ovulating and it's related.
I just ride it out, pamper myself and do whatever the heck I want and nothing I don't want.

Everything's a bit irregular now because I have a Mirena IUD (which I love for the most part) as I don't get full-fledged periods anymore- just spotting (without cramps- yeah!), but I do still get mild PMS which for me involves a 24-48 hour period usually resulting in tears and fights with my husband about stupid crap. In the past, when not on hormonal birth control, I'd become extremely depressed for a day or two (like feel like jumping of a bridge depressed), then get my period, and all was well.
