Mascara
Edited on Tue Mar-29-05 01:23 PM by XanaDUer
Now that we have this forum, and it's supposed to be lighter topics, I just have to say this:

Revlon Lash Fantasy is the BEST mascara I have ever used.

It really does thicken and lengthen, but without clumps and smears.

:woohoo:

1. LOL
I wear make-up maybe 3 times a year.

I've a bathroom drawer full of Clinique bonus days' samples that occasionally accompany a skin-care purchase, so that's what I end up using.

3. Lancome Flexstencils.
Edited on Tue Mar-29-05 02:42 PM by Pithlet
Love it. I have straight lashes, and I hate lash curlers. This stuff delivers. I don't get raccoon eyes, either, even though it isn't water proof. Pricier then some, but I highly recommend it.

Edited to add: I'll have to give the Revlon Lash Fantasy a try. If I can find something I like as much as Lancome, but less expensive, I'd love it.

6. That's a kick-ass mascara, as well.
Too expensive for me, but superb. Also, L'Oreal is owned by Lancome, so their products are pretty much interchangable. And L'Oreal is less expensive.

4. Bodyshop non-waterproof, black-brown for day, black for night.
But for me, as long as they're VISIBLE, we're doing well.

It sucks sometimes having blonde body hair (though the alternative - red - would be weird.) Other times, I don't mind so much.

8. Have you ever tried an eggplant-colored mascara?
My blond friends do, and they like it.

14. Sorry.... but it makes eyebrows and lashes a bitch....
if that's any consolation. And I can't "draw on" my eyebrows like some people can. I just look clowny.

20. Yes, we blondes have zee rabbit eyes without eye makeup.

It is a disadvantage but I gotta tell you, in the Fifties, when I started wearing makeup (against my mother's resistance of course!), there was nothing available for blondes. No blonde brow pencils or other brow color for blondes, unless you happened to be a blonde who liked having eyebrows much, much darker than your hair. I don't even think brown mascara was available, only black. AFAIK, it was all cake mascara, too -- with the little brush you got wet under the bathroom faucet and then picked up color from your mascara cake. Cake mascara was cool in some ways but mascara wands were a WOW! experience circa 1962, as I recall.

All through high school I was asked (suspiciously by girls, teasingly by boys) "If you're a natural blonde, how come your eyebrows and eyelashes are dark?"

:banghead:

Wish I had a dollar for every time I had to explain about rabbit eyes and the lack of cosmetic products for blondes!

I actually didn't encounter brow make-up for blondes until a year or two after I was married in 1967. It was such a rush to find this powdered brow color that was easily applied by brush.

about the only make-up I'm really addicted to.

Used to be Great Lash but...got tired of that. Too clumpy.

It seems weird at first-first step is applying this white primer mascara, followed by the black mascara, but wow!

16. I like Rimmel Extreme Definition mascara
which is now being sold at Walgreens and several other retailers. I wouldn't try it until I could buy it somewhere other than Wally World. For years WalMart had the US exclusive for Rimmel.

It is a comb mascara which gives great definition. It is long-lasting and doesn't smudge or flake. I love the applicator. It kind of reminds me of my all-time fave mascara, Helena Rubinstein with the threaded metal wand applicator. Now the HR is only available in Europe... I guess I could mail-order from strawberrynet, but the Rimmel is so cheap compared to $25 for the mascara, prolly more now with the dollar in the toilet, and then shipping.

I know what you mean about wal-mart :puke:

Glad to hear they have moved to other stores.

Rimmel is known for high quality at low prices.
