Waxing question

I've never waxed; I'm pretty fair so the quick shave has always sufficed. I'm curious about bikini waxes. Just how painful is it? Just how close does it get? It just seems like it would be excruciating!

1. It's really not bad.

The first time will be the roughest, but for me, it wasn't that bad at all. Is modesty an issue for you? Depending on where you have it done, you may be asked to disrobe (you will be given a towel to cover your girly bits), otherwise you can keep your panties on.

I tend to be fairly hairy, but it doesn't really take that long (5 minutes, maybe?), so it shouldn't for you. The first time you have it done, it is a little bit of a shock hearing that "ziiip" of the muslin strip. But it does an excellent job of hair removal. I've been told that the hair grows back finer, but I can't say I've noticed that.

So a well-trained, experienced technician should have you fixed up in no time!

You were asking about just the standard bikini wax, right? If you want to know about the Brazilian, I've had that done, too. And that, of course, is a bit more involved.

I was asking about the regular wax. I read a couple of articles on salon.com about the Brazilian and don't think I can bring myself to do it. Mainly because of the pain. But I'm a bit freaked about looking like a child, I guess. Maybe if I start with a regular I may go all out. Kinda of like when I first cut my longish hair (YEARS ago) and went back a week later and went way shorter!

6. Truth be told, it was a tad painful the first time,

but it was my own fault. I was told the hair should be about 1/4" long. I scissor-trimmed it, but not short enough. The hair grows in different directions, so when the technician ripppped, I had tears in my eyes! I came very close to saying, "let's just stop now!"

The second time was much, much easier. The only reason I stopped was because my husband purchased a trimmer that was designed just for the area, and he wanted to do it. Oh, and it was a little cost prohibitive, too ($50 / month).

So did you wax your own pits? Any stories?

7. It just hurt like hell.

A girlfriend came over to help. I had shaved a week or so before & let it grow back to about a 1/4 inch. I got a friend to help pull the skin tight (it seems to work better that way & is usually a little less painful-at least when I waxed my legs, mustache, etc) I did half at a time, i.e. lower half under the crease. When I ripped off the strip, tears came to my eyes. And poured down my face. And landed on my boobs. I also remember a couple of drops of blood. The bitch was it wasn't a clean wax. I still had a few hairs. I thought Sheesh, I went through all that & I still gotta shave those half dozen hairs. I tried tweezing but that hurt like hell too.

8. Oh dear, that sounds like pure hell.

It sounds even worse than a Brazilian. I don't think I want to try waxing my pits now. No siree. Shaving sounds just dandy.

9. I've always wanted a brazilian. I shave. I find it to be very

erotic. :evilgrin: But shaving is very difficult, and when it grows back, it REALLY sucks. When the hair grows back after a brazilian, how bad is it?

10. I only had about 3 - 4 Brazilians.

I didn't really notice much difference in the texture when the hair grew back in. I was told, though, that the hair regrows finer.

The process was remarkably easier after the first Brazilian. The main reason I stopped was the expense.

11. How did you find a place that would do a Brazillian?

Do you just call? None of the salons that do waxing in the area advertise Brazillians.
