Can a 51 year old woman get pregnant? |
|
About 6 weeks ago my dr. told me to stop taking the bc pills I had been on for about 20 years or so. I almost immediately had effects like emotionalism, crying, etc. Then about 4 or 5 days ago I started feeling nauseated, especially in the morning, no appetitie, dizziness and belching (that's a weird one).
My doctor said that there was virtually no chance of me getting pregnant. I never have been so I don't know what it feels like. I have an appointment with a doctor tomorrow. Does anyone here think that I could possibly be pregnant, or is a brain tumor or something more likely?
I took half a Xanax and a couple glasses of wine and I feel pretty good tonight. Also had a piece of toast with some ham. But this is weird.
Any thoughts?

1. It depends but you need to check with your Doctor |

I'm sure somewhere at sometime a 51 year old has gotten pregnant if she is still ovulating. Ease your mind and get a test.

If you are having sex regularly and didn't use a back up method and hadn't gone through menopause for sure, there is a slim possibility that you could get pregnant. The oldest mother that I personally knew about was a mother who did not believe in birth control and had her 16th child when she was 50. I think that the oldest birth by means of naturual conception was around 60. It is more likely that you are having withdrawal effects from the pill. The pill effects hormones and ceasing them could cause your hormones to be out of wack especially if you are starting menopause (not sure how the pill effects menopause). If you are not pregnant, I would use another method, like condomns, for a while until you know what is going on with your body and if you actually have gone through menopause.

3. I got multiple blood tests today |

One for pg but the doctor said highly unlikely.
If this is menopause, I hate it; if it's an illness, I also hate it; if it's pregnancy, God has played a huge joke on me.
