Anyone ever use generic Diflucan and think they may be |
|
immune to it? My doctor prescribed it for me a week ago Monday for treatment of a yeast infection (lovely, I know), and said if needed, she would give me a refill so I could take another dose the following week. Well, I thought the infection went away after taking the pill, but alas, I think it's back, so I took the refill yesterday. I'm still waiting for it to fully go away.
I don't think she misdiagnosed me, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them.

Sure it's a yeast infection?
I've managed to get trichomoniasis at the gym once, and it does not respond as well to diflucan as a yeast infection does. It's the difference between an antifungal and an antibacterial.
Also, when I do get yeast infections (thank dog they're rare) there are a couple of things my GYN advises - wash every bit of underwear I own in hot water with either powdered hydrogen peroxide (Oxyclean) or bleach and hang them outside in the sun to dry. She also recommends povidone-iodine and cider vinegar douches, dietary yogurt/keffir and to limit my sugar, white flour and fruit for a week or so. But this is not medical advice and should not be taken as such. This is just what my doctor tells me to do.

3. Not unless they test for it. |

It's an odd little infection. It's usually an STD, but it's more than happy to live for a couple of hours in any damp environment (i.e. the problem with the gym.) It behaves a lot like a yeast infection, but it doesn't respond to the same treatments as a yeast infection, and if you're monogamous and sexually active, you and your partner can swap it back and forth for basically ever. (And in you're hetero, men don't usually display symptoms, so they can be really difficult to treat. )
I'd call my doctor, if I were you, and ask if A) what I should do about this infection that won't give up, and b) if trinch test were done.

4. I've taken it before and it worked. |

But you might need to be put on something else, or on a longer dosage. Good luck. That is seriously no fun at all. :(
