I'm quitting in October. It's my birthday gift to myself. |
|
I'd appreciate any advice and encouragement that you can give me.
I want to be cigarette-free on my birthday. I want to start now preparing for the quit day.
Thanks! :hi:
And congrats to all of you who are now cig-free.

I should quit about the same time. It'd be a great b-day gift for me too(December).

7. I went out this morning and stocked up on cinnamon gum. |
|
I'll keep buying a ten-pack every payday until Oct. I'm also investing in straws again and lots of bottled water. When the time comes, I will buy more fresh fruit and veggies to snack on. After the first week they will taste better than ever!

5. No matter what method you use to quit |

it's going to take some serious determination. I've tried everything in the past with no success. My shrink put me on Wellbutrin about 9 months ago to treat my depression. It turns out that the drug also curbs the cravings in some people when they decide to quit smoking. I think that the drug really helped me, but it still was not easy. I've been smoke free for a little over a month now and the cravings are almost gone. More often than actual cravings now I get caught up in situations when I used to smoke. On the way home from work tonight I thought how nice it would be to have a cigarette and I started feeling around on the seat for the pack that I used to keep there. Then I felt a little bummed when I remembered that I am now a non-smoker. But the feeling passed and here I am telling you about it without having lit up.

I'm only day 5 so can't offer much advice.
I tried all the aids in the past-gum, patches, zyban-with no luck. This time I went cold turkey and was just really determined to ride it out. My best advice would be to be prepared to stay very busy for a few days lol. Cleaning seems to be my new hobby lol.
