New requirements for reporting charity donation?

I am using TurboTax on the web. Have been doing this for several years now and it has all the personal data and last year data, too. It also downloads the information from our brokerage house.

So now come the topic of charity donation and it was really confusing. At first I thought that it wanted a separate line - date, name of charity and amount - for each donation. Which would be crazy. After going back and forth - and triggering the "suggestion" to upgrade to the Deluxe version which I declined - I finally found the link for money and just put "various" for dates and the total amount.

But for non-money donations, like for Goodwill, I did have to enter the information for each activity which was not too bad.
