Any other retirees out there who rent and are getting killed on income taxes
this year?

We sold our condo a few years ago and thought we would rent for a while but we really miss that home owner's mortgage deduction (!)
We had no income from jobs - just our SS and pensions plus some dividends and we have to pay like 5k in taxes. Yow!

1. I took standard deduction in '06 and '07.
Now it's higher than my itemized deductions including real estate tax and mortgage interest.
