I will make a complete post in a few days, to help encourage folks who think they'll never find some line of the family. My mother died when I was 1 and contact was lost, I have no idea why. I never had a lot of info about her family, only the maiden name and her mother's first name. Not a lot to go on. Well, Missouri added a database with scans of death certificates and lo and behold, I found a child who had died as a toddler. That gave me my grandfather's name. Long story short, this led me to someone else, who just contacted me and sent me the mother lode of genealogy info. Even a wedding photo of my great-grandparents, and a photo of my great-great-grandfather.
I am overwhelmed. I've been looking for ten years.
:wow:

It's so amazing when you think about or research these people for so long, and then you get that first photograph of them that makes everything SO real, and SO worthwhile!!
Congratulations!

I can't imagine what it would be like not knowing half of my past. I'm so thrilled you finally achieved success in your search.
:toast: Have one on me and take some time to revel in it.
