Anyone here know how to get lists of ships' crews?
My ggg grandfather and his uncle were Irish orphans who were indentured to to a ship's captain when they were about 14-17 yrs old.
They jumped ship in Philly, and my ggg grandfather eventually made his way to Va (now WV). I'd love to find out when they immigrated, but I can't find them on any passenger lists because they would have been listed as crew.

You might try The Immigrant Servants Database. I think most of these sailed out of Liverpool but not all. http://www.immigrantservants.com/

I'll check it out asap. I'd love to find them.
They had quite eventful lives, were apprenticed to a man who killed another man in a duel. They were so frightened that the agreed to crew on a passenger ship, just to get out of the country, but were supposed to make 3 crossings before fulfilling their contract.
It would appear life at sea didn't agree with them, so they jumped ship in Philly, and never looked back!
Thanks again. I appreciate your help.
