Early Report From West Virginia |
|
Edited on Tue May-13-08 08:00 AM by theHandpuppet
My partner and I voted about 7:30 this morning. On our way to the polling place we spotted three women on the corner, enthusiastically waving signs for Hillary. One young woman had brought her daughter along. The little girl, about 7 or 8 years old, was smiling and excited and had made her very own, adorable sign for Hillary. I wish I'd had my camera!
The girls' Mom said this was the very first time they'd done anything like this and she felt a little nervous. I brought her some coffee and we chatted; I thanked her for what she was doing and I believe that really helped. She said her daughter had met Hillary and was a big fan! I guess that was obvious by all the colorful hearts on her Hilliary sign, not to mention the message, "I LOVE HILLARY!"
Voting at our polling place was moderate. Of course, most people around here vote either at the crack of dawn, during thir lunch hour or after work. I think the turnout will be good for a primary. In addition to the Presidential contest, with Anne Barth we have a genuine chance this fall to take back the Congressional seat now held by the Repuke slimebag, Shelley Moore Capito. I have to admit I did NOT vote for Jay Rockefeller this time around. I soured on him some time ago but stumping for Obama was the last straw for me.
Anyway, just thought I'd drop by with an early report. Things are looking good for Hillary!
Oh, by the way... I treated our local poll workers to coffee, donuts and fruit this morning. Never forget to thank those local volunteers.
:-)

I bet that little girl's sign was great! I am so jealous of anyone that gets to meet Hillary.

Thanks for the report....Your mention of Anne Barth brings up a good point about the voter suppression tactics by the O! camp. His is not the only name on the ballot, yet his camp is willing to toss the rest of the Dems for the sake of making O! look stronger or whatever they are trying to do there. With them, it's all about O! and O! alone. Ugh!!!
Great story about the little girl, though!
Go, WV!!! Go Hillary!!

3. Yes, I've found that to be quite true |

Most of the Obama voters I know here have expressed little interest in any of the other races or issues. This really pisses me off. There are so many important races and issues on the ballot this year that we need not only as many Dems as possible to vote, but we need Dems who care about the state and local races. But Obama isn't about what's good for the party or the country -- Obama is all about what's good for Obama and him alone. That seems to be true of his followers as well -- or at least the ones with whom I've talked.
I fear the day will come when there will be a lot of folks in this country with buyer's remorse. Unfortunately, the rest of us will be stuck in that sinking ship with them.

If we want to turn WV around it is imperative that Rep. Shelley Moore Capito be sent packing! Capito has a massive war chest but chances are good that Anne Barth can kick her ass to the curb with our support. If anyone is interested in supporting Anne Barth, please visit her website at http://www.annebarthforcongress.com/
