I am feeling raw and disgusted |
|
and I'm beginning to doubt my intelligence and intuition.
I have a lot of questions and concerns, and some opinions I'd like to share, but, here on DU, I no longer can. That in itself is frightening. That alone should be a red flag to every member here. I am beginning to have some of the feelings I had during the Bush elections.
I could be totally and completely wrong. I doubt it, but I would like a chance to talk it over with other reasonable people. If they haven't already bullied all of you out of DU, maybe we can start more conversations over here, in this group, rather than waste our time posting in GD-Primaries.

1. It's becoming nastier here than FR. |

I don't know why the mods are allowing it to disintegrate into this. If they would start locking the hate-fest threads, or at least move the more over-the-top posts to the Obama Supporters forum, maybe it wouldn't be so disgusting here. I'm in shock at what it's become, and even though if Obama gets our nomination, I'll support him in order to beat McCain, if the atmosphere stays like this around here, I'll try to find a more positive site to visit. There's absolutely no sense in allowing these kinds of posts about fellow Dems. For now, I'm hanging in hoping the mods will eventually step in.

I have been seeing and feeling the same thing for a long time.
There was a thread in GD: P quoting bush's campaign in 2000 and it sounded very much the same as Obama's.. here are just a few quotes I used in a letter:
George Bush promised us unity and non-partisanship: "I want to change the tone of Washington to one of civility and respect. I work with Republicans and Democrats to get things done. I am the hope candidate. My opponent is anti-hope and doesn't want to reach for the stars! I am the candidate of change, hope, and by electing me we can turn the page on the bad past!"
I have felt from the start that Obama is a fake.

4. It's gotten very bad... |

There's no way of arguing with ignorance and hatred. Some of these people aren't the least bit interested in a discussion. They take ANY criticism of their candidate and/or praise of Hillary as an invitation to spew bile. Unsubstantiated rumors culled from RW media are the norm; Drudge, Sully, etc. are routinely quoted with approval.
This group is indeed a refuge for sane conversation.

I just looked at GDP -- really read through the thread titles and a number of the actual threads -- for the first time in several days. I've been too busy to read much here in the HRC forum let alone feel like trudging through that hellhole. What the hell is going on in this place? I read titles about Hillary "frag the frontrunner", Hillary involved in a prostitution ring, Bill involved in a prostitution ring, and so much other crap. I feel like crawling under the covers and staying there until Thanksgiving. How can Hillary get out of bed and hold her head up high and put a smile on her face knowing people like the Obama cult members say this crap about her every day?
What a bunch of hateful childish people. Really. If these are what Obama inspires in his supporters, why the hell would I want to support him?

That is a very good question. In fact, I'd say it's one heck of a question.
