Obama is at 29% with whites and lose Latinos and "other" (presumably mostly Asian) badly as well in PA. He got 21% white support in MS and barely cracked the 30's in Ohio. Obama supporters are looking at the black population in NC and thinking it is another SC, MR, or LA that he can win solely on racial lines. However, the black population in NC is closer to the percentage in TN than SC and those other states. He will need a decent chunk of white support to win NC and pastorgate may prevent that. Moreover, if pastorgate cripples him with whites, a group which recent contests suggest he is fading with, North Carolina won't matter much anyway because he will get swamped almost everywhere. It would be tragic if the first viable minority candidate loses this way but Obama did it to himself and deserves it anyway for playing the race card against the Clintons. What goes around comes around.

and can tell you that this issue will galvanize the older white racists in the Bible Belt area to vote against Obama, not vote FOR anyone, just vote against the African- American. I am a realist, I do not agree with racism but I am not blind to it. Some want to gloss over it and pretend it is not as bad as it really is and then some look for it with a magnifying glass and a huge chip on their shoulders. Being realistic means that I know the Wright issue will only hurt Obama in NC.

I live in Durham and our population is about 40% AA. Therefore, I can't get a read. We have a fast growning Latino population in N.C. but I don't really see signs that we are trending blue.
