I wonder if Michelle Obama got her mink coat back. |
|
Evidently, it went missing after Jesse Jackson's birthday party in 2006. Seriously, did she get it back?

3. And The nObamas don't have pets either. Some think that is a stupid reason NOT to support them. But |
|
I add it to the list if their unlikability. I don't trust those who don't have pets unless they can't afford them or have allergies.People who do not like animals worry me.Obama was the only candidate who doesn't have any pets at all. he said he "might consider a puppy for the girls"if" he were elected, though what being elected had to do with pet owning, I can't be sure.

5. Presidential polling suggests owning a dog helps. |
|
I'm not kidding. I've been paying attention to this stuff since JFK. Read this: Only rarely did presidents choose to not own pets, and that decision evidently doomed them to obscurity, or worse. Chester A. Arthur, for example -- do you know anything about him? No? Well, now you know why -- HE HAD NO PETS. Ditto for the equally insignificant Franklin Pierce. Unlucky President No. 13 Millard Fillmore also had no household animals, even though he was a founding member and president of the Buffalo, N.Y., chapter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Fillmore, Pierce and Arthur epitomize the very definition of a "one-term president."
Shall I continue? Andrew Johnson, who was impeached and is arguably our most despised president, had only mice. William McKinley had just a parrot, and he was assassinated. James Garfield had a dog snidely named Veto, and he, too, was killed while in office. William Henry Harrison kept one goat and one cow; he got pneumonia on Inauguration Day and died after only one month in office. William H. Taft had only one cow, and he couldn't keep his weight (300 pounds) down.
I'm not saying pets make the man, but Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only president elected to four terms in office, and he had not only polio and at least two mistresses but also seven dogs. Many of them were not even housebroken (the dogs, that is). Now, FDR did die in office, but his stroke probably happened while he was in bed, with one of his mistresses.
What I'm saying is, if you want to be president, history indicates this ambition can be furthered by placing "pet care" on your to-do list.

19. when i first read this, i thought it said the |

dog, Veto, was killed in office too, and then i looked back and saw the parrot was assassinated!!!
there's nothing wrong with the way you wrote it, i just read it that the "he" who was assassinated was the parrot and the "he" who died in office was Veto the dog.
the parrot was probably assassinated for telling state secrets.
sorry, i think the bam-bams are getting to me. . .
but you DID go on to say that FDR had "at least two mistresses but also seven dogs. Many of them were not even housebroken (the dogs, that is)," so maybe i anticipated that something funny was coming up.
do you happen to know what sort of dog Veto was? was he small enough to be a pocket Veto?

6. We don't have any pets..... |
|
but the reason for that is our yard is a wildlife sanctuary. We feed the deer, squirrels, birds, rabbits, foxes, etc. and don't want a dog or cat who would frighten the wildlife away. I doubt that would be Obama's reason living in the city.

My little milquetoast and they have a very peaceful coexistence. But I know this is not necessarily typical.
Good on ya for feeding the animals.

I believe so because she tried to capitalize on the Black vote in her 'sermons' as she campaigned for O.

Like this one: Last night I found a blog that is a must read for any working American, and anyone who works for a big corporation needs to see this. NOW.
It surprises me that Labor Unions would be backing him after I read this, because, frankly, the vote he cast on something called the “Class Action Fairness Act of 2005″ is going to strip American workers of their ability to do so many things you would not believe it.
Hillary Clinton voted against it. When I read that my heart smiled.
Please read “Follow The Money” from www.savagepolitics.com.
http://vbonnaire.wordpress.com/2008/03/14/obama-corporate-america-and-labor-a-must-read-this-morning/Perhaps this is on John Edwards mind as he contemplates a Clinton endorsement.

It's like I always say: unless you're living in outer Siberia and you skinned the animal yourself, no one has any business wearing fur in this day and age.

24. Can we get additional verification on this? |
|
My father has been in the animal rights movement ever since I was a very small boy. He is so dedicated to the movement that he gave up the business he owned in 1981 and became an activist full time. He is also on the board for the Genesis Awards. To put it lightly he is very committed to stopping cruelty to animals. He also happens to live in Pennsylvania. He has been supporting Obama and I have been trying to talk him into backing Clinton as I did here in Nevada. I told him about this story. He became alarmed and wanted to know what sources I had to verify Michelle owning a mink coat. He has let me know if this is in fact true he will vote Clinton and will advise his contacts within the animal rights groups he is working with of this sad story. I directed him to the New Yorker article. He does not fell comfortable that is enough proof for him to change his vote. Are there any other ways to verify the mink coat to him?
