With hesitation, mother taught me a prayer at a young age,
...lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil...
wary of indoctrinating her child in religion, but teaching
because it was expected. At four, I memorized and recited
it each night before bed. Repeatedly, she also told me I could do and be
anything I wanted. Even president. When I said that out loud, people laughed
politely, smiling at the imagination of a young girl.
