Lazy Days
Ramón Piñero © 5/28/2004

Ahhh,
A lazy
day,
don’t care
don’t want
to know;
Who’s getting
shot
blown up
pregnant
or who
the fuck
is the
latest
American
Idol.

Donald Trump,
fuck you
and your
hair.

It’s a lazy
day;
Haven’t turned
on the
telly,
Nor the
evening
news.
I don’t
care about
Judge Judy,
Mathis,
or the
current
Peoples Court
flunkie.
It’s a
lazy day;
A day
for
grandchildren
playing
in the
mud,
riding their
bikes
and getting
on that
last nerve
we all
have.

A very
lazy day
when
all you
can do
is stare
at the
sky
and
watch
that
elephant
turn into
a snail.

A day
for hugs
and kisses
abrazos y
besotes.

A day to
watch
your children
and wonder
at the
miracle
that is
life.
A miracle
made
manifest
in the
way they
look at you,
and hold
you tight.

I need
more
of those
lazy
days,
where kisses
are currency
and love is
change
hugs are
barter;
and
“I Love You”
means
I love you;
With all
the warts
and
blemishes
you have
cause
that’s how
love
is.
Ahh yes;
lazy days;
we need
much
more of
these.

1. Pinerow has a soft loving heart
and bleeds some soft on us.

Yes he do. Do. Do.

4. "where kisses are currency" .... "hugs are barter".... smiling here, my
5 year old knows well how to use these (or try to use them....) *smile*

the poem as a whole is evokes a lot of feelings in me... for many reasons. I appreciate the speaker's honesty, and agree -- that there should be many more 'lazy days.'
