During a bout of depression....it wrote itself... |
|
Un Tiempo Perdido Ramón Piñero 11\21\2004
I cannot remember when that cloud overwhelmed me.
What I know is thatI can hardly walk without that dark fog clouding my vision blocking my path.
I don’t remember when my future looked so bleak and dangerous.
When the sunshine stopped and my vision was lost in that unexplicable darkness I see everyday.
I don’t remember when the smile on my childrens faces lost its power to heal, or when my wife’s’ delicate touch and her soothing voice became just another imposition another burden to bear.
I cannot remember a time when my living meant more than my dying.

of what it is like to be depressed. Mental illness is a part of my life now and will be with me until I die so I know exactly where you are coming from. I wrote a lot of poetry when I was psychotic, delusional, depressed, and manic and I wish that I had it with me now. In a horrible fit of depression I burned it all. I only have fifteen poems now that I wrote and all of them were written when I was well after I got my symptoms under control. I guess I will have to get busy again.
On edit: Do you mind if I cross post this in the Mental Health forum? I think a lot of people there could relate.

I am still in treatment...I have good days and I have bad days...writing helps me cleanse myself of the former and celebrate the latter...

It comes from self. One's emotions and sometimes tears flow freely on the paper. A relief valve.
