My doctor put me on zoloft and ativan to help with my withdrawel(I have a kind of weird seizure disorder and he didn't want to aggravate it)...anyway-I'm going to have to cut down on one or both.I feel like i'm in a dreamy, surreal fog...but not in a good way.anyway-thanks,you all for your kindness and reaching out.Forgive me if I don't post much today-I just want to sleep.

| 2. Getting a little extra sleep might just be the healthiest thing you can do right now. |

The Ativan is probably what is making you feel foggy. But if it is properly dosed, it will prevent the seizures.
Zoloft is an antidepressant. I am guessing it was prescribed to help control some of the mood swings for you, while you are in alcohol withdrawal. It might take a couple of weeks to fully work.

The first few days can be the hardest. Just take it one day at a time and make sure your doctor hears you as far as what effect the drugs might have on you. I know that I was in a fog for about a month or so when I got sober. I couldn't think straight and couldn't remember anything. Just keep taking it an hour at a time or whatever works. :hi:

it is very difficult to walk into your doctor's office and say "I have a problem. I have been abusing alcohol." Having faced my doc recently, all I can say is kudos to you, girl, for being safe. I received some very concerned-but-stern admonitions from those on this board about trying to manage withdrawal on my own without medical supervision. Coming clean with my physician has really taken that worry off of my shoulders, and I hope it has eased your mind too, despite the fog.
