I am so proud of you!
You may start to crave a lot of sweets soon. There is a lot of carbs in alcohol, thus the sweet cravings. If you allow yourself small amounts of sweets, you should not gain too much weight and it will help get you through.

Ice Cream, Pie, Candy, Cakes, bring em on!!!
So glad you're feeling better and make sure your doctor understands alcoholism and addiction. It is very easy to switch from booze to drugs with a kindly doctor who thinks he's helping you.
Hope you have tried a meeting, you'll find friends there and hope and answers to the eternal "How the hell can I do this???"

edit to add, in my homegroup our coffee service would supply hot chocolate too, so I mixed hot chocolate in my coffee (and I drink my coffee black) and the Denny's down the street never had a pie I didn't make close intimate friends with.
it takes what it takes yanno?

You'll find that the craving will pass, just use the tools we have in this program.
Call someone when the cravings for alcohol hit. This is why it's important to get lots of phone numbers.
Think of the big picture. My sponsor always told me to think out the scenario of taking that drink and everything that would happen right after that . This really worked for me.
Post here, someone is always checking in.
And yes, as KW and AZDem have stated, allow yourself those sweets. Alcohol converts in sugar so you'll find yourself craving it. Go for it.
And last but not least- pray!
There may come a time when the only thing standing between you and that next drink is your faith in your Higher Power.
Let us know how you're doing,
We care and we've been there.

I hope that today finds you sober, and that you are feeling even better.
Remember though, that we all struggle with this disease and recovery is a process, progress not perfection.
So hang in there!
