| MBD is one week plus one day sober! |
|
Okay, I felt like I would jinx myself if I posted a one week mark without getting through the entirety of yesterday. My heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who have offered encouragement and support. You've been instrumental in helping me get this far. Physically, I feel like a million bucks. I've even been to the gym to work out and to my beloved hot yoga class -- both of those things are the first to go when I'm drinking.
I've also been cooking up a storm (cooking is my hobby), my laundry is caught up, and I'm catching up on my work (I still maintain some part-time stuff from home). My consulting client didn't seem to notice that I was partially absent during this latest two week bender. I'm very lucky. My child is blissfully unaware of anything except that Mommy is happier again, and I think my husband is delighted to have his wife back. I'm pulling the threads of my life back together, slowly but surely.
All in all, I feel like I stepped up to the edge and looked into a really ugly pit, and with your help I did not fall in. Nothing bad (rehab, injury, jail, death) has happened, and I do not want anything BAD to happen due to my drinking. I think that maybe, just maybe, I stopped in time. And I have learned, finally, the difference between merely sobering up and Getting Sober. The latter involves admitting that I have a problem and doing something about it. Sobriety feels very different when you're grateful for it and looking at it as a long term thing.
Thank you all again, dear friends. I am continuing with my Grandmas and Grandpas group, and I am taking it one...day... at... a .... time.
Much love. MBD

you probably saw my post wishing you Happy 1 Week in the other thread, but seriously, I am so happy for you and your family!
now don't forget how you got where you are today and keep doing what your doing ODAAT (One Day At A Time)
find yourself a sponsor in your AA group, someone who you love what she shares and someone who can take you through the steps a couple times till they become a working part of your mind. not today and maybe not tomorrow, but in the next couple weeks keep an eye out for someone like that.
but just for today, bask in the gratitude and accomplishment of a WEEK + without a drink

| 4. Yes, I did see your post, thanks for the good wishes! |

I was in this weird superstitious mood yesterday that I had to get through the entire day before I celebrated my week, so I didn't reply. But THANKS! I am very happy but also very cautious. I know how I got here and I know how easily it could happen again.

One week one day at a time!
I always worked out, even when I was drinking. It was truly amazing how much stronger I got with the same amount of effort after I quit the booze.

That is so great!
I am so glad you are seeing the "world of possibility" that has opened up now that you are sober.
Keep doing it, stick with the grandmas and grandpas, they know how to stay sober and recovering.

Congratulations! That's fantastic news! I'm very happy for you and proud as well. Just remember not to get ahead of yourself - that's a stumbling block for me. You can't be sober for the next year, you can't even do it for the next week: you can only do it today.
:pals: I believe in you

| 8. One Day At A Time Friend! |

congrats on that week...but we all just have today that we got to worry about.
If I make it through today, I'm a success if I don't drink or use!

Just look at the difference in your posts from you first to today's - what a difference! Isn't it great? My husband and I have gotten so close this past month - I'll be 5 weeks on Saturday. Let's keep all the positive vibes going!
