Tonight I found out that my son is in Santa Rita Jail. |
|
And I'm glad, in a way, because now I know he's alive. My kid hasn't checked in for over two years and now at least, I don't have to imagine where or how he is.
There is nothing at all I can do to change this.
And, in the morning, I'll make a series of calls to try to get some information. He's been on and off of meth for years. The charges as far as I can tell are possession, intent to sale, burglary. At least there were no guns or hurt or dead people.
Wish I could hug him. Or kick his @ss, I really don't know which.
Your thoughts, wishes, prayers that he gets a moment of clarity would be appreciated.

3. Maybe he'll get the help in needs in jail. |
|
I don't know what the situation is where he is incarcerated, but many prison systems have good recovery programs in the jail.
Lots of my AA friends do the prison meetings and feel it is a valuable part of their recovery.
I'll send my prayers too that he gets what he needs to turn his life around now.
much love to you... OB

We have an insidious disease. Each one of us here had to come to a point where we were willing to go to any length to stay clean and sober, and/or free from our addictions. ( we have a EA member here, also)
The first step is the willingness to get help. I hope your son reaches this point soon.
Al-Anon meetings can help you. I would also call the nearest central office of NA and ask about support groups for family members and friends.
I'm sending good vibes for your son, you and your family.

You must be going through the whole range of emotions. Have you tried Alanon?
I hope that this jail thing is just what he needs to find recovery.

All of this is so new to me. I've never even gotten a speeding ticket. (What kind of whimp am I? lol)
It's good to know I'm not alone and to remember how little control I have over anything. Out of shock and rollercoastering a bit this afternoon but, it is what it is.

7. I hope things turn out OK |

Meth has been brutal as of late. I have known more than a few meth addicts over the years.

8. My kid did a long rehab and then, the same facility hired him as a counselor. |
|
He worked his head off for the kids and relapsed nicely because he wasn't taking care of himself.
Some lessons are really hard. :(
