| My dear sister just admitted to being an alcoholic. |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-06-08 07:15 AM by DemExpat
She even now admits she can't help herself alone. I think her self-loathing is at an all-time high - or low.
But taking the step to go to AA or other support groups is not yet in her sights, especially living in Mexico at this time.
Do any of you know of GOOD online support forums for alcoholism? This could possibly help her and point her towards more substantial help.
Thanks,
DemEx

I did see one post referring to an E-AA site that looked good. Just want several to offer her after I check them out.

| 4. She and her husband are moving back to the Denver area in the coming months. |
|
Plenty of chapters there, of course. I'm hoping to point her to an online source in the meantime.
Thanks, AZ!

I've got another tip regarding ordering drinks in Mexico-
Limonade, por favor
It's great!- some of the BEST Lemonade I've ever tasted, really fresh and balanced just right. It goes with everything.
No one has any problems with someone ordering this instead of the hard stuff.
Thanks, again.

http://www.eaachat.org/cgi-bin/chat/chatroom.plGood luck to your sister. Admitting you have a problem in the first step, and, as they say in "Groundhog Day", it's a duzy.

She has for years denied the problem, so when she uttered those words a few days ago on the phone I was flabbergasted and at the same time excited that she might be taking that all-important first step.

| 7. AZDem gave you some great links to meetings in Mexico. |
|
As soon as she starts contacting other AAers in her area, she will have a foothold and feel more at ease at meetings.
I wish her the best. You are a great, supportive sister, DemExpat.

She is moving back to Denver as soon as their house is sold, but I'll send her the sites.
She and I have been very very close since our teenage years.
