| So I asked one of my classmates out the other day... |
|
I'd been trying to work up the courage to do it for a couple weeks. As many relationships as I have had, oddly enough I have never asked anyone out - I have always been paralyzed with this fear of rejection. All the relationships I have been in, I was asked out or it just sort of happened.
So I realized, being 24 and all, it was about time to get over my fear of rejection. I asked her out for coffee, and she said yes. Though, later, it turns out that she just got out of a long relationship and wasn't looking for anything at the moment, I feel like I hit some sort of a milestone. I asked, even knowing that she could say no (and how horrible that would be!).
Who knows where things go from here. I hope eventually that there can be something between us, but that's really her call I think. For the time being, I'm just glad I was finally able to work up the gusto to do something healthy that, traditionally, has been a terrifying prospect for me.

And remember, even if she doesn't want a serious relationship or it's just not feasible at this time, you can still have good conversations and enjoy each other's company.
It's not so hard to think of it as just asking someone for an hour or two because you think you'd like to talk with them, right?
Even if this one had said no, the next one might say yes. Keep asking. You've already been through so much, hearing a "no", even though it sucks, isn't anything you can't cope with.

That takes a lot of courage, you did it, and where it goes from here remains to be seen.
Give yourself a big pat on the back for GETTING IT DONE!
We alki/addicts are BIG on procrastinating, so you've done good!
