| I need advice on SP(Ice) addiction. I former neighbor of mine |
|
20 something kid has an addiction and reached out! She was here from 5 - 17. being raised by grandma and I look at her as a little sister and she me, a big sister.
After they moved, I heard from her sporadically (no drugs at the time to my knowledge), she is a good kid, with a bad judgment complex.
I know so very little about drug addiction (more with bi-polar disorder (which may also be implicated here) / alcohol addiction). I did search the web to get more informed (but something this important I would like a more knowledgeable source for info.). She is currently in a hospital treatment facility, and wants to live here because she has no where else to go (per her), and I with the chronic Lyme can not take on this challenge, but would like to assist in anyway possible.
I am not making excuses for her, but in her short 22 yrs., she has endured more than most people in a life time. Any input would be greatly appreciated. (PS Her grandma has been her sole provider for most of her life, and she has not really given me any substantial info., so I am working from a detoxing, addicts view point).

| 1. Perhaps after the rehab, she can go into a halfway house |
|
I am not sure it would be the most healthy situation for you to take her on as a housemate, since you have other issues taxing you.
If she is serious about recovery, she will follow the suggestions of her counselors, she will find a support system for her recovery, and perhaps she will find a job and a roommate in recovery.

| 4. Thanks, I have found since she was in college and her dad was |

killed, that's when the unraveling came. She has no insurance (because she was under a parental policy and after, I believe 9 mo's. without any college activity that gets dropped). She was then employed (this is 2yrs of life summarized in 1 hr. phone call including the niceties), at a legal office (benefits, unknown). Here is the problem, there is an outpatient treatment facility that will assist (fees based on ability to pay, Maryville) located near her grandma's house, that is if her grandma will take her back in. I know there is a lot of abuse with this addiction and I don't have a pulse on grandma yet, where she is.
I did even know for sure what she is addicted to and I really don't think she knows.
I have no legal standing to ask the center for info., at least that's what I think.

| 2. I'm sorry for you and your friend |

hope someone can help, but I don't even know what spice IS. I've been sober so long it's a new one on me.
you mention she's in a treatment facility. may I suggest you contact them? while they may not be able to give information about the patient, they certainly should be able to give you general information on what their program recommends and more information on that particular drug
good luck!

| 3. I am 46 she is 22 and I knew her most of her young (still some left) |

life. I did call the addiction hotline, (before talking to her again) and they gave me some info., but it is difficult because her grandma who (is very limited in her communication with me, but she does communicate with me) had her where they recommended, at the time I called to speak with her.
The problem is, we have a 2yr., blank period (I have no info on what was happening), and when her grandma stopped by with her to get my new (cell) number, there was very little communication. Her, (E's) mom was drug/alcohol addicted (and in abusive relationships), reason granny took the child in the first place (I just think it is so hard for her, what did I do wrong (maybe, spoiling a little but not more than that nothing).
I think it is meth if I am reading the info correct, but she calls it SPICE (Cocaine) and I am not drug savvy to know the difference, if there is any.
