Exercise bike and a calorie journal |
|
Hi everyone. I just found this group and thought I'd share my weight loss story. I've always been heavy but I gained more weight the past couple years, some of it due to switching careers from carpentry to computers.
I started working on losing weight about 4 months ago. I've never been able keep up a weight loss program for very long before but this time it's working pretty well for me. I keep a calorie journal of everything I eat which I find very helpful. A journal really helps me spot any bad habits especially with snacking.
The other part that's helped me is a good exercise bike. A good stationary bike makes a lot of difference. It is very smooth so I am able to study my computer books or read a novel. Being able to do those things while exercising really helps me find time to exercise 4 or 5 times a week.
I really am starting to feel better. I've still got weight to lose but I've lost 44 pounds so far.

1. That's fantastic, GreenJ! |

44pounds-- GONE! WooHoo!! A lot of people who post here have found that journaling their intake and exercise has helped them. I must become more disciplined about writing everything down, as I think I may be 'missing' some stuff, and not reaping the benefits I should be.
I am so happy for your success- you are an inspiration! :yourock: :headbang: :woohoo: :applause:

4. Journaling definitely helps |
|
It's easy to miss a number of things though. I did that quite a bit at the beginning, missing some margarine I put on something or other little things you don't think about. It adds up though.

3. Thanks so much for sharing your inspiring story, GreenJ. |

Congratulations on finding a formula that works for you, and for losing 44 pounds - must feel absolutely wonderful.
I have been noting what I eat on FitDay.com and this tool is helping me to clearly see how I am eating, as well as helping me keep good track of what I am eating each day. This seems to be giving me the support I need to eat the right things for weight loss instead of gain. 3 weeks and I have lost 3 kilo.
That stationary bike allowing for reading and studying sounds great too.
I walk with my energetic dog twice daily for about 2 hours, but I think it wouldn't hurt :-) to incorporate some more intensive movement each day as well - work up a sweat for 30 minutes or so. I'll think about how to fit this in my day as well. I have a mini trampoline in the attic, and a stepper as well, so I have the equipment......:D
Thanks for your inspiration here,
DemEx
