flordehinojos, how's your weight management plan going? |
|
I mentioned before that I did Medifast in 2003 and lost 60 pounds. Well, I've decided to try something similar again, after swearing I would not go on another diet! However, I'm so sick of getting no results from exercise and other forms of cutting back. So last night I ordered an 8-week supply of shakes, bars, oatmeal, and drinks from New Directions, a plan similar to Medifast. In addition to the products, the plan includes one meal a day of 8 oz. of lean meat, chicken, or fish, and two cups of veggies. My hope is to lose ten to 20 pounds and then gradually move back to healthy foods while I continue to exercise. I just need some positive results to get started (I think.)
I won't be going to a clinic and getting all the support you are but since I've done this before, I think I can handle it. There's also that liquid diet discussion board I mentioned to you before and this wonderful board, of course. :)
I hope all is well! :hi:

1. I hope your new plan gives you the oomph you need! |
|
You must congratulate yourself for doing something constructive to get you going. I'm glad to hear that you will only be on this program for a short time, and then move back into healthy eating. Sometimes we all need a jumpstart to get us motivated and willing to continue down the long path of weight loss.
(I know I could use a jumpstart myself!) I'll be eager to hear how your new program goes. Both yours and petersond's threads are inspiring!
I've completely dropped off the walking wagon, walking partner! Life has been very rough recently, and isn't going to get any better in the next few months. I find it too hard to exercise and try to lose weight. I'm just trying not to gain any more at the moment. And hopefully, when things settle down here, then try to address the weight issue again.

2. I remember hearing once that there are three things that can happen |
|
regarding your weight and two of them are good -- losing and not gaining! For me, it seems like no matter what I eat and how much I exercise, I keep gaining. I may be fighting Mother Nature at this time of my life but it's a fight I have to make.
I'm sorry your life is in turmoil and hope things settle down soon. You're doing the right thing to give yourself one less thing to worry about for now. Maybe there are small ways you can get in a little exercise like parking a little further away or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Every little bit helps, right?
I'm trying to avoid eating in the evening and I take the stairs when I can, though it can be hard on my knees. I do believe you have to be of the right frame of mind to start a new regimen. I've been on a "holding pattern" for the past several months but maybe that's what I needed to prepare for another "assault." :)
