| My son's birthday -- an initial skirmish against temptation before the holiday onslaught |
|
I did fairly well, I think. As far as I can tell, I stayed within my "points" budget over the weekend. But it took planning.
To get through the birthday party Saturday, I shoved a couple Fiber One bars in my pocket and munched then instead of cake. I also took a moderate serving of the spaghetti and turkey meatballs we served. And just in case, I ate light the day before.
Today, I lived very dangerously. We decided to take the kid to Chuck E. Cheese because today was his actual birthday and we wanted to do something as a family that we usually don't do. I tried initially to talk my son into settling for one of the chain restaurants that has a low-calorie menu. But then I thought "he's only going to be 6 once, I can adjust."
So, I figured out how many points 2 slices of pizza would be. I limited myself to that and stuffed myself at the salad bar -- just the green stuff and fruit, no dressing. I added a couple more points for that.
Gawd, I hate having to do so much food-related math. But it's the only way I'll get though the holidays without a weight gain.
My loss over the past 9 weeks has been about 20 pounds. I am feeling a lot better, but have a long, long way to go. I do not want to backslide now.

You are doing very good. Old habits die hard, but you look to be fighting them off well.

Seems like doing food-related math is the only thing that works for me lately. I've been paying attention like never before to every morsel I put in my mouth.
20 pounds gone is GREAT!
