Ok I am a big girl...over 300lbs, and I now that the weather is cooler I am feeling more like moving around.
I have depression (even before current administration) and I know that I need to talk to my Dr because I think the meds quit working. I also know that carrying all this excess weight is making me tired.
I have so much I want to do, but I am so tired all the time - it hurts to move.
Any suggestions - other than a nap.... my mind wants to do stuff - walk, go outside, clean the house, go to the Y, but then my body craps out on me...I am just too sleepy and tired to move.
thanks for any help you can give :)

1. The lack of energy could be a symptom of your depression |
|
Get to the doctor as soon as you can. Ideally, I think you should go to both your general practitioner for a check up and some blood work in addition to a psychiatrist. Between the two of them they will probably be able to figure out what is wrong.

2. I second that notion - you need to be talking with both doctors. |
|
Get the blood work, make sure your thyroid isn't involved, maybe check Vitamin D levels since they may have dropped as the sunlight has gone away. Talk to whoever prescribed the anti-depressives, you may need a change there.
If you want to lose weight, tell them both. Ask if your anti-depressants might be causing weight gain and then decide with your doctor if there should be a change. Get your doctors to help you with your weight. I think some doctors won't bring it up because they figure you will be upset if they bring it up.

3. I started one non-descript day with a 15 minute walk. A slow one. |
|
I was so self-conscious that I put on a ballcap and pulled the bill down low. I walked straight out the door and walked for 7 or so minutes and walked back. 15 minutes.
I did this 15 minute walk just a few times per week. No big plans, no lofty goals. I let my body, and how I felt, be the guide and I continued to walk. Sometimes I would walk in the mall. Ballcap on, bill pulled low. Head down, I looked at my watch and did a moderate paced 15 minute walk.
It did have the effect of increasing my energy slightly so I kept it up. I told myself that with every step I was getting that much healthier, but I didn't want to overdo it and screw up my knees or ankles or something.
You'll feel like increasing the amount of time you walk over time, probably, but just go by how your body feels.
Also I agree with those above in this thread who've said to talk to your doc about your meds.
Good luck. :hi:
