Post your NSVs -- Non-Scale Victories! |
|
There are times when the scales aren't moving but there are other signs that we're being successful. I had a big one this week -- a suede skirt that I bought the last time I lost weight fits again! It's an interim size -- it will be too big eventually -- but it was one of my first trophies the last time and it feels good to be able to get back in it, especially since suede doesn't really "give." :)
What are your NSVs? :hi:

1. It would have to doing the 8 mile bike ride without trouble. |

I wrote about it here I think but I'll repeat it anyway! :) The best part of losing weight for me, besides fitting into new clothes, is being able to be active and the feeling (endorphins?) that go along with that. Hiking with friends, climbing 5 flights of stairs at work for the hell of it once a day, and hopping on a bike and feeling my hair flying in the wind behind me. Nothing is better than that for me. I'm 42 so I'm no spring chicken, but I'm happy to be active again--for a good while I wasn't and I missed it so much.

2. This is more of an exercise than weight nsv |

You know that if you have no arm strength getting out of a pool is a real pain? For months I've been planting my hands on the pool deck, trying to pull myself out, falling back in and begging the coach for a hand.
I've been going to the gym for a month. The other day I just hoisted myself out of the pool like a seal sliding onto a rock! VICTORY IS MINE!

3. I know *exactly* what you're talking about. |

Congratulations on your success!! :toast:
I could barely drag myself out of our pool. How I wanted to go under people's lanes to the ladder but I forced my way up the side of the pool, with my arms shaking like a leaf. When I could finally do this with relative ease I just loved it.
The other milestone for me at the pool was when I couldn't float with ease. One day my fat proportion was such that my legs would pull me down and I'd have to "skull" the water with my hands to stay afloat.
Here's to your continued success!!
