Joy, I keep doing this... |
|
This time I managed to tear the muscle in my left hip.
Yes kiddies, should know better and LIFT with legs.
Anyhoo... went to the doctor, and calling Wednesday for PT.
Oh and I NEED to get back to regular exercise... to bring them cholesterol numbers back down... lets just say them differentials were not happy numbers.
So take my word... USE YOUR LEGS...

1. Screwed up a knee a few months ago. |

300lbs squat, duh. Anything worth doing is worth overdoing. Had to stop running for a while. Just started going on the eliptical machine. Could not run so started more weight lifting and screwed up the shoulder. A shot and PT for that. Have to remember I'm 61.
Anyway, none of that has screwed up my weight loss goal. I have concentrated on cutting out more bad carbs. BREAD, SUGAR. That has worked and with the break in exercise, I have managed to drop a few more pounds.
My big new deal are those bagged, pre-made salads you can buy like the ones by Dole with lots of veggies in them. Only to 60 to 80 cals in the whole bag and a quarter bag with just a little dressing is pretty damn filing. Fish, chicken and oatmeal with some frozen veggies and a piece of fruit.
Now, I'm back to working out and really past my first goal of getting down below 205. New goal is 195. The other goal of running in a 5K is still on the table. If I work out on the eliptical 90% of the time, I think I can still run once or twice a month.
Flexible goals.
I had stopped the statin meds back in April and the # are about the same as with the meds. The big deal has been the triglycerides. In the past 4 years those have hovered between 350 and 650. Last check it was at 88.

at least PT will be moving and they should be able to tell you what other exercise you can do while recovering
We're starting round two of P90X tomorrow, Round 4 of Power 90 programs since March 1, 2010

don't ask. Well I did. I had all the exercises at home from when Dad broke his hip. Long story with the insurance. so I started doing them at home.
Now I am back to elliptical, 25 crunches, good for the back too... about ten push ups (I was at zero), and the therapy.
Oh and back on my elliptical, will add some fencing next week. I got eleven minutes on it. I started again at three, and I was dying.
But hey, now that I am back at doing this regularly, I feel much better. Oh and the three pounds that I picked, are off again.
I got an aerobics program on the IPAD, so will probably do some of that too, I just have to modify knee exercises, LONG and long standing issues.
