I was a bad boy tonight, but man did I enjoy myself.
I ate only a small helping of stir-fried tofu, zucchini and onions all day, but then I got off work early and my wife and I were trying to decide what to do for dinner. We ended up going to our favorite seafood place, because they have their best special of the week on Thursdays. All-you-can-eat shrimp, oysters, catfish and clams. I ate a lot, but I tried to concentrate on the boiled shrimp and had less tartar sauce than I normally would. I don't do this often. The place is miles away and it took us over four hours to get there and back using our bikes and the bus. Using only bikes to get there would be almost impossible because the entire trip is uphill and both my wife and I would be dying before we got halfway. We'll probably go in another 3 or 4 weeks, but in the meantime I plan to atone by eating lots of salad, pasta with low fat sauce, and other healthy things, in moderation, for the next several days. I'll be seeing my regular doctor tomorrow to follow up on some stuff, and I expect my weigh in won't be any higher than it was earlier this week. It's cooling off just a teeny tiny bit around here, struggling to hit a measly 100 degrees, and it won't be long until I can go over to the UNLV campus and ride myself stupid without overheating.

I'll post my weight tomorrow when I get back. Hopefully there wasn't too much damage from tonight. :)

1. I love fish and seafood, too
I haven't been to eat some in a long time, though. I'm holding out until a friend from out of state comes to visit me next month. We will eat at Red Lobster one night. By then I should be noticing some serious changes in my weight and my body shape from all the working out and dieting that I plan on doing. I've worked out every day except one for the past three weeks. The only reason I took the one day off was because I slightly injured myself jogging and I needed a little time to recover.

I also quit smoking three weeks ago. I have a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream in the freezer and a note on it that says, "Open only in case of emergency." So far the ice cream has been safe.

I weighed in at 270 today. That's down from 277 that I weighed before I started working out and dieting.

3. Now that's discipline...
to have a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream in the freezer, and its still 'safe'! Whoopee! You must be developing nerves of steel. Good for you! :bounce:

5. You're doing GREAT, Droopy!!
Quitting smoking, AND not plowing through ice cream - GALLONS of ice cream, not just one measly pint - from the withdrawal symptoms... I'm more than a little impressed!!

And taking a day off from working out every now and then is actually a good idea. You will log more progress in the long run if you stick to no more than six days a week, with one day of light stretching to keep yourself limber.

Keep up the good work!

7. Thank you
I've had a little help with the withdrawl symptoms. I've been taking an anti-depressant called Wellbutrin for about 9 months now. It turns out that the drug also helps smokers control their cravings. It hasn't been easy, but it hasn't been as hard as quitting cold turkey.

2. Of all the dinner choices you COULD have made...
Seafood, and boiled seafood at that, was a good choice! AND to bicycle most of the way there and back! I think whatever damage you could have possibly done, was certainly worked off there and back! I'll bet you notice a difference in the scales tomorrow at the Dr.'s office; be sure to keep us posted!

4. Why thank you!
The truth of the matter is that my wife, who is a bit overweight but not even close to my league at 5'4"/175, kept up with me. So I DO know my appetite is smaller. I didn't have the "Oh God someone please roll me out of here" feeling that I used to at a place like that, where I felt the only way I was going to get my money's worth was to eat until I couldn't hold another bite with a gun to my head.

Today, our plan is to have our main meal at lunchtime, at a new Indian restaurant that offers a lunch buffet. Much less fat content in the food, and I will be only eating to satiation, just sampling everything and having seconds on the best stuff in the mix. No more. Plus, my full itinerary should have me biking at least 8 - 10 miles today. Coming up with a net calorie deficit will be a cinch this time around. :D

9. Indian! YummY! And healthy choices to boot!
Tandoori Chicken and Saag Paneer are some of my favorites and good, healthy choices as well...

You are doing soooo well on your biking! Congratulations! It seems that you are enjoying it too.

Please let us know how your Doctor's visit goes today; I'm sure you're going to be surprised with your results...

8. You didn't
do badly at all GG! Seafood is excellent food and as you said very little tartar sauce. I try to eat LOT of seafood for the protein. NO fries or any potatoe at all for me. Your mode of transportation probably helped to burn off excess calories. It's when you don't deprive yourself of some nice treats that you become successful!!

keep up the good work!
