Friday, 8/19/05 meal plan thread.
Hello everyone! I just got back from a (mostly) healthy late lunch at one of the best cafes in Vegas. It's so good it has its own website. Anyone who visits Vegas, or lives here, and likes Mediterranean food just has to give this place a go. It's called Paymon's, and the website is:

www.paymons.com

You can view their entire menu there.

Anyway, I had an eggplant pita and Jeanette had a gyros pita, both of which were supplemented with their incredible house fries that are rolled in a mixture of herbs and served with a dipping sauce. We also split a 3 dip appetizer. This is one plate with equal amounts of tzatziki, hummus and baba ganosh on it, served with warm pita bread and garnished with olives, pepperoncinis, cucumbers and parsley. The house iced tea is so good you don't have to put any sweetener in it at all. I've never had better tea in a restaurant, and I think by the time I was finished I had something like 6 large glasses. And for the first time in the many I've eaten there, I tried some dessert in the form of some awesome spumoni cheesecake. After all that, I seriously didn't know if I was going to make it back outside without a rolling cart. :)

The other thing that worried me in the back of my mind was that eating as much as I did would cause my blood sugar to spike sharply. I was rather pleased when less than two hours later it was only 154. That's about 20 points too high still, but understandable after all that food. This type of thing is something I do once a week at most even when I'm not actively trying to lose weight, so it's gonna be okay.

So, now that I've gone off on this horrible, decadent food spiel, I hope the rest of you managed to behave better than I did. If you had something yummy today share it here! :hi:

1. Nothing too yummy
Breakfast- A bowl of Total cereal with a banana cut up in it. No sugar.

Lunch- 2 chicken breast sandwiches with fat free cheese and light miracle whip. One apple and one serving of fat free yogurt.

Dinner- Healthy choice chicken and fetucini frozen dinner. 280 calories 7 grams of fat.

Snack- Apple and a slim jim.

It adds up to about 1800 calories.

As you can see lunch is my biggest meal of the day and I eat it right before I go into work.

2. You're doing very well.
As long as you enjoy what you are eating and not feeling deprived then that's what counts. I really can't afford to go out and eat the things I do once a week or so, but it's my thing. I don't spend money on much of anything else like movies or whatever.

3. I'd rather eat something else
that's for sure, but my diet isn't going too bad. Once or twice a week I will eat a meal at a restaurant just to treat myself and to keep from getting too bored with my diet. And the things that I eat when I'm eating out aren't too bad for me. I'll go to Subway or to my favorite Mexican restaurant.
