I had my first session with my personal trainer today. |
|
I'm finally getting serious about losing weight, after way too long.
So, as of today I'm keeping a food diary and yesterday I joined a gym. I'm really excited about this. I went through a rough past few years, and food was my best friend (or so I thought). If I could only beat my sugar habit, I'd have an excellent diet. :D
Anyway, glad this group is here. :)

I joined a club nearly a month ago, and have had two sessions so far with my personal trainer. However the role of the PT at my club is essentially to meet once or twice a month for weigh in, measurements and to track my progress, so it's not as intensive as with a traditional PT. Now I'm trying to work on my diet since that's proving to be harder than getting myself to the club to work out every weekday.

and we're here for support!
Beating the sugar thingE will take time, but it can be done. It took me a while...and I didn't even have a lot of sugar in my diet to begin with (no simple carbs like bread, etc...I haven't had sugar in my home for about 3 years, and the only source of it was either occasional chocolate or the 1/2 cup of fruit juice I had daily with my green shake).
Now, I allow myself a chocolate bar a week and that's it - and even then I sometimes have to struggle with sugar cravings the next day...

5. How are things going with the Personal Trainer. |
|
Is it helping, do you feel better? I've always wondered if that's something I should consider.

After one month, I can say I am very, very pleased. I've lost eight pounds but more than that, I can't believe how much healthier I feel. I really noticed a difference right away (as soon as the aches and pains faded - LOL).
I needed the motivation to do more cardio. Some people are motivated on their own, but I am not one of them. I credit my trainer with making me actually look forward to our sessions. Now I see her three times a week and I work out on my own another two days a week, plus I take yoga and Pilates classes.
So far, so good, and if I can just keep my sweets-snacking to a minimum this holiday season, I should do okay! :hi:

7. that is JUST awesome!! |

I'm so pleased it's worked out for you (no pun intended). I have to do something to get some body strength back after losing so much weight. I'm thinking a treadmill will be a good investment as far as working on some stamina, but I don't know of any gyms or trainers around here. It sounds like you are doing a LOT for yourself and that's wonderful. I'm glad you're feeling healthier and hey, 8lbs gone is marvellous!!
keep up the good work!!
