Motivation: Something to think about. |
|
I started my New Year's resolution (healthy diet, more exercise) in late November and although I haven't been perfect with it so far, I have stuck to my routine more often than not. And now that we are almost at the start of 2006, I'm really pleased to be "one jump ahead," so to speak. Anyway since we are entering into the New Year's resolution season, I just wanted to make a point that you can start a New Year's resolution anytime of the year! Because I feel like I tend to do something for about three weeks and then fall off the wagon -- but now, I will have this fresh energy because of the New Year -- and that'll really help me convince myself that I've made a lasting change, come the end of January when an awful lot of folks are starting to ease off on themselves.
Anyone else got fun ways to motivate themselves and get going?

1. I've always been an ardent anti-smoker |

and though I'm sympathetic about how difficult it is to quit, I definitely believe smokers should quit. So today while I was on the elliptical, I thought about how it's a lot easier to stay on that elliptical (I was bored, not really tired) for an hour than it is for a smoker not to reach for that next cigarette. And I reminded myself how lucky I am NOT to have that addiction so the least I can do is work out an hour a day!
