Not that I should be surprised |
|
At the gym this morning I see a Heineken commercial with a greenish robotic disturbingly thin woman whose abdomen becomes a keg. And look, you tap the keg right beneath her breasts! Then she magically produces 2 copies of herself.
Has anyone else seen this? I don't watch much TV and I have Tivo so I zip through commercials and don't see them. So I don't know if I'm not longer "used" to seeing women depicted this way in beer commercials (which no one should be) or something about it just was more disturbing.

I haven't seen it, and the visual I get from your description is beyond disturbing. :puke:
I'd love to see NOW and other women's organizations make a stink about this. Though unfortunately, I can only imagine the backlash if this happened. :eyes:

Good riddance. :puke:

3. Yep, she's not really a person, but she's the perfect date! |

They apparently don't realize that women buy beer too.

Women will buy beer that guys like. Hasn't it already been established that many women tend to defer to the judgement of guys on certain male oriented consumer products, like beer?
If what I remember is still true, if they market successfully to the guys, many women will follow and buy it too because it appeals to guys. In effect, the marketers get rewarded for their sexist advertising by getting more female customers too.
(it's been years since I've kept up on market research, so anyone with current research/information please say so.)

4. Yeah that commercial is not good. |
|
It's a bit disturbing and the implications are really obnoxious - woman as beer dispenser. Also, I saw someone comment somewhere (I don't know if it was here on DU or elsewhere) about how the robot is wearing high heels. They have to pornify the robot woman, even though it is technically an inanimate object.
When did we get so stupid?
