Study: Feminists have better sex, romance
Study: Feminists have better sex, romance
Surveys of 242 college undergraduates and 289 older adults conclude that having a feminist partner "is linked with healthier, more romantic heterosexual relationships," writes LiveScience.

The Rutgers University research, published this week in the journal Sex Roles, "bust(s) stereotypes that peg feminists as ugly lesbians," LiveScience says.

Both men and women are prone to holding negative views of feminists, the authors say. Along with the sexually unattractive stereotype, some women also view feminism as a movement for victims, or for women who aren't competent enough to achieve success on their own merit, LS writes.

Among the findings:

College-age women with feminist male partners said they had higher quality relationships that were more stable than couples involving non-feminist male partners.

Feminists college men with feminist partners reported having more equality in their relationships.

Older women reported greater relationship health and sexual satisfaction with male partners who were perceived to be feminist.

Older men with feminist partners reported more stable relationships and greater sexual satisfaction.

1. That makes perfect sense.
No body-shame (or at least less of it).
More knowledge of sex and sexuality, or at least a willingness to learn.
More consideration of each other's needs and value in the relationship.
Probably more communication.

I would have predicted these results.

2. Slightly off topic but
when I was in high school my mom once warned me never to date man that was anti-choice. No good could ever come from being with somebody who didn't respect my right to control my body.

How can a relationship be successful if those in it don't equally care for each other's rights, needs, and desires?

The person who posted this clearly has been brainwashed. I'm sure she's missing out in life but I can't feel sorry for an adult posting this-

I think any woman who demasculinizes a man, by not letting him be a man, and do manly things, even like opening a door for a lady, should not be called a feminist. They should be called a pain the butt for ruining it for those who like a man to be a man. If you want a man to be completely mushy and sensitive, you might as well just go get yourself a woman if you want your man to be like one.

3. Note that that commenter's biggest fan is
named "John Holmes," just like the best known male porn star of the 1970s. I'll bet you a dollar that "John Holmes" is a sock puppet for the "Lady."

Your mother gave you good counsel, IMHO.

5. Opening a door
is just plain common courtesy. I do it for men, men do it for me. It has absolutely nothing to do with feminism.

What a shit-for-brains.
