Creating A New Feminist Community |
|
I'm not sure whether this post might be allowed in this community but I think that those in this community might be interested in what I have to say. Anyone remember the dkos debacle over the pie ads and the lack of respect from those for women's issues? That lack of respect made me really angry and I was sick of being paid lip service to from dkos. It really woke me up to the fact that there really isn't a community blog I've found on the level of dkos that deals primarily with issues from the feminist point of view. I and a friend of mine are thinking about creating a feminist-oriented community blog that would fill that void in the progressive blogosphere.
As for those who left dkos, they created a site called womenkossacks.blogspot.com, but the person who created that site closed it down and she said she was in the middle of creating a feminist community and that she was going to stay in touch with us on the e-mail list. There's been no updates on the e-mail list since, and the lack of the follow-through on others' ideas being offered on that site bothered me. Which is why I've decided to take matters into my own hands and create a feminist community. We deserve one and we need one.
Let me know if you might be interested in this site :)

I think it's a great idea. I don't see any reason why your post and your idea shouldn't be discussed in this group - seems we of all people should know what it takes to do something like what you're proposing and be supportive of it.
Please feel free to PM also with anything I could do to help.

Why do we keep going backwards within the damn Liberal community?
I know the whole country is on a downward spiral away from Feminist gains in the last few decades due to: Smirk, neo-Cons, rising Fundamentalists in power, etc. etc.
But crap. What is wrong with saying Kos and other male liberal bloggers, commentators, writers, etc. are sexist and hold their feet to the fire? If those men took a racist stance it would not be tolerated. So why is it when those same men continue their sexism which affects a hell of a lot more people than minorities (sorry to the female minorities who must feel doubly attacked) women have to go off onto these tangent Groups and Communities?
I know. We need them to regroup, as we are doing here.
But, damn. :grr:
