Feminist Craigslist Dating Experiment: The Trolls
"The world of dating-while-feminist can be a challenge. For me, it is a prerequisite that my potential date identifies as a feminist, or at least is interested and can hold a conversation about feminist subjects. I also subscribe to ye olde adage “Just say no to sex with anti-choicers.” These prerequisites can make it difficult to find a contender. As Jaclyn Friedman puts it, “If I had a hardcore litmus test, the pool of men I could date would be so tiny. And then when you weeded out men who are gay, the men I don’t find attractive, the men already in monogamous, committed relationships—really, I would never get laid again.”

...this quote reminds me of the other board i shared about:

quote:
Feminists killed Marriage and Trust between men and women. That’s why there’s so many divorces and single parents in the western world.

:eyes:

limbaugh, o'reilly, the churches, religious dudes and dudettes in general have done a fantastic job, convincing the world that feminists destoyed marriage, family, and trust between men and women. clearly it has nothing to do w/the fact that so many dudes are liars, cheaters and serial abusers.

though some of the responses she rec'd make me wonder if someone should make a go of a feminist dating service. (sigh)

2. Cute... but offtopic, this reminds me of Lysistrata.
That whole "I would never get laid again" thing.

Other than Lysistrata, the women in that play were characterized as being practically incapable of abstaining and had to be bound by an oath and a magical spell in order to do so.

3. how interesting that she's 22

and is looking for someone 21-27. Same old same old, I'd say.

I met my current co-vivant through an on-line ad of mine. "Anti-social socialist, funny feminist, atheist iso soulmate." I was bored with on-line courting when he replied (1999, after a couple of years of quite entertaining correspondence and more). I said he should tell me his thoughts on Kosovo. That was Friday and he'd left work already. Monday morning, I had 8 emails of thoughts on Kosovo in my inbox.

I met his first real competition right here at DU ... mad infatuation that unfortunately didn't work out in person ...

You eventually learn, when you're a socialist feminist atheist, that it really is a tiny pool, that there is a very clear demarcation line between the pool and dry ground, and that you really don't want to go fishing outside it. ;)
