I love this song, how about you?
I Am Woman
-Artist: Helen Reddy from "Helen Reddy's Greatest Hits": EMI ST 11467 -peak Billboard position # 1 for 1 week in 1972 -Words and Music by Helen Reddy and Ray Burton
I am woman, hear me roar In numbers too big to ignore And I know too much to go back an' pretend 'cause I've heard it all before And I've been down there on the floor No one's ever gonna keep me down again
CHORUS Oh yes I am wise But it's wisdom born of pain Yes, I've paid the price But look how much I gained If I have to, I can do anything I am strong (strong) I am invincible (invincible) I am woman
You can bend but never break me 'cause it only serves to make me More determined to achieve my final goal And I come back even stronger Not a novice any longer 'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul
CHORUS
I am woman watch me grow See me standing toe to toe As I spread my lovin' arms across the land But I'm still an embryo With a long long way to go Until I make my brother understand
Oh yes I am wise But it's wisdom born of pain Yes, I've paid the price But look how much I gained If I have to I can face anything I am strong (strong) I am invincible (invincible) I am woman Oh, I am woman I am invincible I am strong
FADE I am woman I am invincible I am strong I am woman

1. When that song came out |
|
I was in crisis. I was in college, my boyfriend of 4 years called me on the phone and told me that he was getting married the next day, I had no clue. Then that song. I can't help but love it. It practically saved my life and it did teach me how to grow beyond anything I had ever dreamed. I mean, if others thought this way so much so that there was a popular song then I had been right all along, I was worth more than just someones wife or girlfriend. Yes, I do love it.

"I Will Survive," which came out during the time I was going thru a divorce. I was alone (well, felt alone), with a 4 year old child, and felt both betrayed and very, very frightened. It helped me bunches. Too, I seem to be the only living person who actually likes disco music, and I loved that about it as well.

Red Rubber Ball? For some reason the radio stations were playing that a lot then but it was an oldie even then I think. That one gave me a lot of courage as well.
Red Rubber Ball ( The Cyrkle )
I should have known you'd bid me farewell There's a lesson to be learned from this and I learned it very well Now I know you're not the only starfish in the sea If I never hear your name again, it's all the same to me
And I think it's gonna be all right Yeah, the worst is over now The mornin' sun is shinin' like a red rubber ball
You never cared for secrets I'd confide For you I'm just an ornament, somethin' for your pride Always runnin', never carin', that's the life you live Stolen minutes of your time were all you had to give
And I think it's gonna be all right Yeah, the worst is over now The mornin' sun is shinin' like a red rubber ball
The story's in the past with nothin' to recall I've got my life to live and I don't need you at all The roller coaster ride we took is nearly at an end I bought my ticket with my tears, that's all I'm gonna spend
And I think it's gonna be all right Yeah, the worst is over now The mornin' sun is shinin' like a red rubber ball
Oh, oh, oh I think it's gonna be all right Yeah, the worst is over now The mornin' sun is shinin' like a red rubber ball
As a musician I can say that music is VERY important to all of us for so many reasons, here in this thread are but a few.
