1. I think the one about the Sandy fan was deleted because |
|
the author of that thread has a tombstone. However, the thread still exists. Don't get that part. But it is strange how some DUers agree so much with the tombstoned freeptards, huh?

I mean, I know what a tombstone is, but I don't know what it is in the DU context.
I alerted the administrators about the Sandra Day O'Connor thread. I just said that I thought it would have been better if the person who found fault with someone's opinion of Justice O'Connor had responded to the person who thought she was a great woman. I said I thought that sort of behind-the-back stuff was beneath DU, and, although I don't believe I said it in my alert, I do believe it's behavior that any feminist would disdain.
If it's worth saying, it's worth saying directly. My opinion of Justice O'Connor has always been one of admiration for a woman who did things women were not supposed to do. Her politics might not have been the same as mine, but her legal reasoning, for the most part, was impeccable, and her courage, especially as she battles breast cancer, is admirable.
So, if someone posted that he or she thought she was great, I think it's the responsibility, if you hold a differing opinion, to post back on that thread. To come here and call the person names behind his or her back cheapens what might be called "feminism," but really isn't.
If we want to be treated with respect, we have to behave with respect. That's what I think.
Oh, and what's a "tombstoned freeptard"? That's another one I don't understand.
Thanks in advance.

3. If you look up someone's profile who has been ejected from DU |
|
You will see a tombstone engraved with "Here lies a disruptor. He disrupted poorly" It's pretty funny.

5. Also someone might post here about a thread somewhere else |
|
Because they don't want to get into a flame war on GD. Or it may be a particular aspect of the thread that is off its topic but pertains to us as feminists. I just did it myself about a post in the thread about the guy being considered a sex offender for grabbing a girls arm who'd walked in front of his car. Yes, I'm not responding directly to the post but I don't think I'm doing anything behind anyone's back either. Anyone can see what I've posted and can respond to me (provided it's respectful of DU rules) or can PM me about it if they so choose.

4. Alright, I confess. I was not aware that any threads were getting |
|

deleted from this forum. But I've alerted on some posts in here, which I felt violated site guidelines, and reflected irreverent, disrespectful attitudes about feminism (and good taste). Things that are spelled-out in the forum rules as unacceptable.
If anyone cares, I haven't seen any threads with comments in which I've felt motivated to hit alert about get deleted. But, based on some posts I've had the misfortune of reading in the last couple of days, I suppose I'm not all that surprised.
