Feminist Book Club update
Edited on Wed Jul-06-05 08:11 PM by BlueIris
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all the voting has concluded in our polls about which book we should read first. It looks like Edith Wharton's "The House of Mirth" received the most votes. I have no idea how long everyone want to take to read it. One week? Two? More? My volume is 342 pages, for those who wanted to know about length. I think everyone who plans to read it and participate in a discussion of it should post their suggestions for our reading timeframe in this thread.

2. I think this is the only thread about the reading timeline issue.
Everyone who voted in the polls (ie; intends to read the novel) should post his or her thoughts about schedules when a good date to start discussion by would be.

Oh, and here's a thought: for those who read quickly and/or have light schedules at the moment, perhaps an ongoing discussion thread would be best. Readers can contribute their thoughts as they finish the book, starting...now? Soon?

All feedback welcome.

I personally find the prose of Edith Wharton clear, graceful and accessible. But for those who either don't or want an extra frame of reference at some point, I recommend that site. There are lots of other book summary places online, but I like that one for quick reference.

4. Thanks for this Blue Iris
I think probably a two-week window is good, but we could start discussing the book whenever we feel ready, even down to first impressions, etc.

5. Good timeline suggestion. And thanks for not making fun
of all the Keerazy typos in my previous posts. Good Lord. Yeah, I've had an insane couple of weeks, but I didn't know my brain was that scattered when I put up those comments. Man. Scary.

7. Just kickin' to figure out where we are with this?
Who's reading it? Has anyone finished it yet? Anyone started reading it yet? Any thoughts?

I admit, I have been swamped in MRL for the last few weeks so I haven't even gotten around to getting a copy yet but I didn't want this to get lost in shuffle.
