Red-States Lead In Rape thread from GD |
|
This is something you might want to look at. It stems from a comment about, everybody's favorite feminist, Rick Santorum's comment about how the ideas of liberalism equate to more rapes. Something like that anyway. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4090884

1. Cripes, look at Alaska! Not a woman-friendly place, it seems |
|
The old joke they used to tell about the 3-1 male to female ratio in AK was "The odds are good, but the goods are odd."

3. (sigh).... Santorum..... |
|
What a tool. And it's sucks that the most viable Dem candidate against him is also anti-choice. Not much of a choice for progressives in PA. :(
Higher rape rates in Red states don't surprise me. Violent crime plagues all socio-economic levels but is especially prevalent among people of lower incomes. And incomes tend to be lower in * bastions. Poor women have fewer resources to protect themselves from predators or abusive mates.
Plus, someone should inform Sen. Santorum that men who are raised with more traditional views of gender are more, not less, likely to rape. Asswipe.
