Indiana Woman Wants $500,000 for Housework Done in Marriage |

Sorry the source on this is so sketchy. But it's an interesting case. Works for me. http://www.theindychannel.com/news/4769434/detail.htmlIncidentally, I found this in the Longue. You might not want to know what they're saying about it there.

2. There's a story I always like to remember |
|
It was published many years ago in one of the old time women's magazines - Family Circle or Woman's Day. A woman was married with two kids and she was a complete doormat. So she went on strike. She set up a tent in the front yard with a sign indicating that she was on strike.
At first the family laughed at her. It was like Ghandi said about struggle. First they laugh at you etc etc. That's how her family treated her. They laughed, they got angry, they begged, they tried to defy her and then they gave in - she won.
I'll never forget one of her demands. Evidently, her family members liked to use a towel once and toss it on the floor for her to launder. She was laundering dozens each week. One of her demands was to issue each one a single towel that they were to use for the entire week. She played hardball and they all agreed.
I think there was a story like this more recently in the news. But the one I'm thinking of was over 20 years ago.

And I think your timeline is about right, give or take a few years.
She did win. They had laughed at her at first.

I thought that it was the "feminists" who didn't value the stay at home mom and the "house wife"? I thought it was the "feminists" who made women who didn't work outside of the house feel "unappreciated", "unaccepted", "undervalued", "unimportant". (There was a thread about this somewhere yesterday - probably one of the Santorum threads - how a (note: A) stay at home mom hated what feminism has done because it made her feel undervalued.)
Seems it's our fault that stay at home moms and "house wives" are undervalued - UNTIL it comes time to put their money where their mouth is. These jerks who think it's "best" that women stay home and care for the children and run the household only say that until it's time to PAY the f*ck UP!
