A confession...

I consider myself a feminist. I am also a lesbian. I've been guilty of letting my libido get the better of me -- i.e. seeing other women in terms of sex first.

How do other lesbian/feminists handle that issue? Do I check my libido at the door? I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I really enjoy this group and have to check in from time to time to keep my head on straight.

1. well lately, i see everyone naked in my imagination

it is not always pleasant, but i can't seem to stop. i find beauty in all women, and i assess their sexuality by the way they move and the sound of their voice and that telling look in their eyes. it's what we are, sexual beings seeking to connect in a cosmic way. guilt sucks. go with the flow.

3. If we could be prosecuted for our thoughts

Most people would be on Death Row. It's not what you think, it's how you act that counts. As long as you are treating the women you think are sexy with the same dignity and respect that you would want shown to you (and I'm sure you do), you have no reason to feel guilty or that you are out of place here. :hi:

4. I'm curious why you think a lesbian feminist should be different than

a straight feminist. It's really no different than a straight feminist viewing men in a sexual light above all else... some do, some don't. I, personally, rarely see women in a sexual light when I first meet them. Especially not in an online forum where I don't even know what they look like or if they are even female.

Have whatever thoughts you like, which is natural, but respect women and don't see them in terms of sex first. Bottom line is that all humans SHOULD make an effort to treat eachother with respect. Seeing people as sexual objects first before you think about any other aspect of them is something everyone should stop doing, straight or gay.

I was talking about real life. I was just thinking out loud and reminding myself of certain traits that can be negative. I never said that lesbian feminists are different than straight feminists. Just that there is an added demension, that's all. Sorry to offend.

I would agree that there is a different dimension in real life. Same difference dimension that exists between gay women and straight women anywhere. I just don't quite understand the feminist angle is all.
