What's the deal with hiding threads? |
|
I've never done that before. How does it work? Can anyone do it, or do you need to be the author of the thread?
Thanks, bliss :hi:

1. I just click the Hide Thread line next to Alert in the OP of Evil Threads. |

It's such a great feature.

2. What happens once they are classified as hidden? |

:hi: Blue Iris--good to see you! We have quite a few evil ones these days, don't we? ;)

3. You can also click on the little "x" next to the title of any thread |
|
When you are in the page where all of the thread titles. To the right of each thread title there is a small "x", and if you click on that it will hide the thread. Once you hide the thread you can't see it anymore in the line-up no matter how many times it gets bumped to the top. If you change your mind, or accidentally hide a thread you didn't mean to you can fix it. Go to "My DU", then to "Hidden Threads". This will give you a list of all your hidden threads. You can select any threads you want to "unhide". Then click on "Unhide selected threads" and they will no longer be hidden. (Threads that have been archived will no longer show up on this list.)

4. So is this an option for some of |
|
the delightful racist, sexist, homophobic threads started by DU members hoping to start some shit? ;)

The "alert" function is also fabulous for that as well. I myself have only resorted to that twice, but if something is particularly repugnant it is worthwhile to report it (then you can hide it in the meantime). For those things you just find annoying the hide function is sufficient. Also, if a particular poster is always getting to you, you can put him/her on ignore and never have to see any of their posts.
