A thought, or question, for this group...
Sometimes, posts that are important to many of us can sink in the "Big Forums."

Understandably, the DU forums create a relatively private haven for discussion.

However, just a thought: Look at our "votes" column, and then the "votes column of forums like Election Reform:

When there's a strong post here, one that'd be worthwhile for others to read, should we kick it up to the "Greatest" page for others to give it more exposure?

Or, is there fear that it might bring unwelcome conflict into this forum?

1. I think ThomKat tried to recommend a post
and found out you can't recommend posts in the groups. He posted that in another thread.

2. Oops! Sorry....
Can we refer to posts in other forums, recommending them for recommendation?

4. I don't see why not
The election folks do some lobbying within their group to get their people to vote up threads.

I thought about doing that before on one of my threads, but then it felt cheesy, asking for votes for my own thread. We could post a link here to another thread started in GD, so folks here at least see it, and the voting would probably take care of itself, then.

3. I think a thread is "eligible" for recommendations for a limited
amount of time. It can be slow moving here; many of us are busy "duking" it out (I couldn't resist the pun) on other threads, or busy living real life, or...you get the idea; and by the time a thread is visited by one of us, the alloted time has expired, never mind by the time enough of us have been to a thread to get it to "greatest" page. In short, I don't think many of us in this group are online as often or as much as posters in other forums.

That's my take on it anyhoo.
