saying pro-choice and anti-choice?!?

I'm so beyond tired of seeing people on a progressive board feed into the crap from the right with language. If I see one more person say they are pro-life, but pro-choice for others....:banghead: Ugh! Do they not get how the use of language affects us ALL? We're ALL pro-life, or we wouldn't also be anti-war, pro-peace, etc. But in terms of conversations about choice and abortion, it absolutely drives me to distraction to see it put in terms of pro-life and anti-life.

They, the rw is and always has been about not allowing women to have choices. period. What the hell is so hard about saying it? Those hypocrites are anti-choice. Anti-Choice. ANTI-CHOICE!!! NOT pro-life. I'm sick of seeing people here call them what they clearly are not. When are progressives going to stop feeding into their bullshit and call them what they really are?

for the rest of the weekend. That will soothe your outrage, trust me. I've just come from a nice sauna in the baths of...sanity...over at Twisty's place, and although I'm somewhat bitter and depressed and know that if Twisty met me on the street, especially tonight, she'd scream, "What do you MEAN you keep having fantasies about meeting a normal guy and having a relationship with him?! Have you been READING my blog or not??!!" I still feel...cleaner. We're not the ones with the problem. And she can explain why someone who has been calling him/herself pro-choice up until now would suddenly flip out and succumb to the enemy's linguistic (read: behavioral) oppression much better than I ever could. Go, Twisty!

Ultimately, I know it is their issue and nothing I can really do anything about. When people are open to information, you can educate--when they aren't, there's little you can do but spin your wheels. I shouldn't let myself get aggravated.

Given that this board at one time was stricter on the use of the word bitch,for example--but has since regressed should tell me that word use means little to a great many here.

At least I have an area where I can talk about such things and not be verbally assaulted by ignorance. That's something to be grateful for. I am. :hi:
