They don't let us use it in any way that would serve to actually lessen the sexism that sometimes runs rampant on DU. We can't post links to particularly egregious threads. We can't name posters by name no matter how vile the things they say are. We can't even talk about it in a general way without naming names as was proved by my recently locked thread.

We're supposed to alert one vile post at a time. Like that's going to solve the larger, systemic problem. You cannot end sexism by giving a slap on the wrist to one person at a time. And as long as we cannot discuss it as a bigger issue without certain trolls turning the conversation into a flame war then nothing around here will ever change.

It's ridiculous. Some of the crap over the last few days has been as bad as anything I have seen on this board since the days when we were debating whether or not "bitch" was a gender slur. :eyes:

And while this group could have been the place where women on DU could come and gird our loins *snort* for the fight, where we could have created organized action to make this place more friendly for women...forget that idea. They might as well rename it the Knitting Circle.
