About all the Code Pink bashing |
|
Am I the only one seeing a serious thread of misogyny running though it all? I just don't believe that some posters would be making such a fuss if it was a group of men engaging in theater as protest.

1. No, you aren't the only one |

buncha uppity women are gonna alienate the "normal" (i.e. "proper") americans.
The IVAW was doing street theatre last weekend in DC, interfering with pedestrians and such. Nobody has a problem with that, though, because they were in combat fatigues. *manly grunting*
Men in Camo holding pretend Rifles and Cuffing People = nonthreatening, comforting to our citizens. Women in Pink Boas = too frightening for middle America.

And part of it is that men aren't part of Code Pink....probably cuz there aren't too many men who are confident enough to wear pink.
I admire Code Pink....and loved seeing one of the members at the Hearing with Valerie Plame.
I figured that many men were upset cuz it wasn't a man wearing the Impeach Bush t-shirt.
Just because a guy calls himself a Dem, doesn't mean he isn't a sexist. And many aren't too eager to engage in any kind of introspection on their views of women and how they regard them.

Undignified way to take away from the seriousness of these hearings, gasp, choke, choke.
I noticed and thought that well-behaved women rarely make history nor are they are a force for change. I watched those hearings and she didn't distract me nor diminish the importance of the hearings, as I stated in a couple of the threads, it seemed a great subliminal message tactic to me - Impeach Bush Now.
The information coming out in those hearings should have been enough to impeach the cabal. :hi:

5. I wonder exactly how much information it will take |

before we reach the tipping point for impeachment. You are right that it seems we should be there already.

4. Whenever any group that is entirely or predominantly women |

gets together to express a political opinion you know they are going to be fair game for unwarranted criticisms. That is, unless they are representing the dominant, white male, political position. Then they will be hailed for representing women. Women who dare to dissent, how dare they!
I'm surprised that code pink has received as much good press as they have. I expected them to get a lot more heat.
They're an excellent group from all I've seen and I certainly support them. Their street theater was excellent when I've seen it here in NYC.
