Apparently taking a stand against enslaved rape is unimportant |

It's not like there's living survivors who suffered these atrocities. And gosh, it's just some broads in another country. Who cares? http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=2895722&mesg_id=2895722:grr: :banghead: :nuke: (Something tells me if this were a resolution supporting the Duke students people would be applauding it.)

Maybe this makes me one jaded and heartless feminist, but--WTF is Congress doing this for? You know its motives aren't in any sense genuine. I can't figure out what the angle is for either Party. You'd think the conspiracist in me could come up with something, but it seems like congressmembers have everything to lose and nothing to gain here.
Also, there are some bizarre responses from DU posters in that thread.

this was pushed forward as a way of claiming moral high ground. I don't know that the same people who can't seem to care about ending this war really care about what happened to the "comfort women."
They deserve recognision for what they endured. They deserve justice. I don't think our government is really trying to help these women in any way.
